Mincher-Lockett & Co Opticians, based in Market Drayton, hope to help Georgie Morrell to reach her goal of £20,00 and perform at the largest arts festival in the world.

Georgie also hopes to debut her new show The Morrell High Ground in Edinburgh.

To help Georgie reach her target, Mincher-Lockett & Co is encouraging patients to book a specialist Ocular Coherence Tomography (3D OCT) eye scan.

OCT is the most advanced method of assessing the back of the eye and can help to detect damage from potentially serious eye conditions so that treatment can be implemented quickly.

The practice will donate all fees collected from OCT scans until June 30 directly to Georgie.

In order to raise awareness, Mincher-Lockett & Co has also arranged A Night with Georgie Morrell on July 22 at 7.30pm at the Festival Drayton Centre in Market Drayton.

During the free event, Georgie will be performing sketches from her shows and will also be offering advice and support for those dealing with sight loss.

Tickets are limited but can be reserved by contacted Mincher-Lockett & Co Opticians.

“We are more than happy to support Georgie in her bid to attend the Edinburgh Festival Fringe,” said Eva Dave, Director at Mincher-Lockett & Co Opticians.

“We believe that helping Georgie is more than just supporting an up-and-coming talent; we are also investing in a strong and proactive advocate for sight loss and disability, a cause that is close to our hearts.”

Georgie added: “I cannot thank Mincher-Lockett & Co enough for this.

“It is so important to me that we get to a place – socially – where disability is not about being ‘different’, but where it is embraced as a normal part of everyday living. I want to express how diverse we all really are and how funny human nature truly is.

“Disability must be celebrated and seen in a positive light. To be able to express that theatrically, through comedy, is incredibly liberating.”

The practice is also offering an additional £40 off premium eyewear this month for those who take up the OCT scan.
