Runners trot along to rescheduled Market Drayton festive 5k race
Christmas may well be behind us but a festive fundraising run took place over the weekend after it was cancelled in December.
This year's annual Turkey Trot saw the streets of Market Drayton taken over by an array of Christmas characters taking on 5k run.
Whether they were walking or running through the town, hundreds joined in with the fun – with the lure of mince pies and a pint of beer at the finish line.
The event is organised by the Market Drayton-based Joule's Brewery and as runners continued to capture the Christmas spirit well into 2018.
It was originally expected to be held on December 13 but was cancelled meaning the trot was rearranged for Sunday.
Local businesses Shepleys Butchers and Fix Auto donated first, second and third prizes for both male and female runners.
Joule’s also donated a Beer in Box prize which contains 36 pints of Joule’s Ale for the best fancy dressed adult runner and a bucket of sweets for the for the best fancy dressed child.
All trotters were given a voucher for a free pint or soft drink and mince pie at The Red Lion Inn to enjoy after the fun run.
