The former Fed Cup and Scottish national tennis coach and mother to tennis champions Jamie and Andy Murray is coming to Oswestry on June 12 to talk about her memoir 'Knowing the Score'.

The event is being held at The Marches School in the town, and is the latest to be organised by Oswestry’s award-winning independent bookshop Booka.

A spokesman for the bookshop said: "Judy Murray is the ultimate role model for believing in yourself and reaching out to ambition.

"As a parent, coach, leader, she is an inspiration who has revolutionised British tennis.

"From the soggy community courts of Dunblane to the white heat of Centre Court at Wimbledon, Judy Murray’s extraordinary memoir charts the challenges she has faced, from desperate finances and growing pains to entrenched sexism."

News of Mrs Murray's appearance in the county, follows the announcement that Sir Tony Robinson will also be coming to the town to talk about his new autobiography 'No Cunning Plan', again organised by Booka.

The talk starts at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 6.45pm.

Tickets for the talk cost £20.

The ticket price includes a signed copy of 'Knowing the Score', with tickets for couples priced at £25 to admit two and one signed copy.

They can be purchased from Booka Bookshop on Church Street in Oswestry.

Tickets can also be booked via the www.eventbrite.co.uk website.
