Taylor Swift announces Raye and Suki Waterhouse as support acts for Wembley gigs
The pop superstar will return to the London venue from August 15 to 20 to finish her UK and Ireland run.
Raye and Suki Waterhouse are among the artists who will warm up the crowds at Wembley Stadium when Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour returns for five more nights.
The US pop superstar, 34, will return to the London venue from August 15 to 20 to finish her UK and Ireland run after previously performing at the stadium for three nights in June.
She announced on her Instagram story that Brit Award winner Raye and Daisy Jones & the Six star Waterhouse will be supporting her alongside rising stars Maisie Peters, Holly Humberstone and Sofia Isella.
“Just wanted to tell you about something coming up that I’ve been so excited about: we’re adding five incredible artists to our five Wembley shows, going on right before Paramore”, Swift wrote on her Instagram story alongside a tour poster.
“I asked them to play on this tour because I love their music and think they’ll absolutely smash it in Wembley Stadium!!”
She encouraged fans to check out the music of the fellow female musicians before adding: “Gonna be a fun 5 nights!!!”
Singer-songwriter Isella will be up first on August 15, with Humberstone, Waterhouse and Peters following before Raye performs on August 20.
Waterhouse, who recently welcomed her first child with her partner Robert Pattinson, said it was an “dream come true” to support Swift at her hometown stadium.
She added in a post on Instagram: “It feels like an honour to simply exist at the same time as @taylorswift, let alone be an opener for her on the biggest and best tour ever.”
London-born Raye also thanked the singer for the opportunity while Peters said supporting Swift has been her “dream since I was 12 years old”.
Humberstone said she was “eternally grateful” for the chance to support the pop star and Isella wrote: “Someone I’ve never met has changed my life even more than she already.”
Swift’s billion-dollar Eras Tour takes fans through her back catalogue, including hits from albums 1989, Red and Midnights.
To mark her previous arrival in the capital, murals, a special Tube map, a Taylor trail and a series of events were created.
Before her London performances in June she played shows in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff, and she later played in Dublin.
Last week, she said she was “completely in shock” after the killing of three young girls in Southport at a dance class themed around the pop star.
She said she was at a “complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families”.
A group of Swift fans have raised more than £360,000 to help the families affected by the attack.
The JustGiving page, set up by a group called Taylor Swift UK & EU Facebook Group, is raising the funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where many of the victims have been treated.
