Contractors have been hard at work over the past few days installing the stage and sound system as well as the lighting rig to ensure that the show goes without a hitch.

Organisers are expecting a crowd of 10,000 and tickets, which went on sale months ago, have been eagerly snapped up.

Among the line up are Carol Decker and her band T'Pau, Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley, Billy Ocean, Nik Kershaw, Altered Images and ABC.

Gates open at 10am and the show gets underway at midday.

Festival organisers are urging people not to bring bags or rucksacs as stringent security measures will be in force in the light of the Manchester bombing on Monday night.

In a statement earlier this week organisers said: "We are saddened and shocked by the attack that took place in Manchester earlier this week. Our thoughts go out to all of those who have been affected by the events in any way, and our deepest sympathy goes out to those who lost their lives or family members.

"We have consulted with the local authorities, police and venues at all Let's Rock sites to ensure the safety of our customers.

"Safety is our priority. There will be intensive bag searches taking place on all gates – we advise you to avoid bringing a bag with you unless absolutely necessary, as this will delay your entrance – you will be searched. If you are attending this weekend, please be patient when entering the sites and allow plenty of time to get into the show.

"We continue to consult with all policing and safety authorities involved and follow their advice."

Clare Grogan, singer from Altered Images took to Twitter yesterday to say how excited she and the rest of the band were to be performing in Shrewsbury.

Posing in a music studio, the Scottish actress and singer said: "Ok, we're all excited about @letsrockshrews so let's hope we don't **** it up."
