Let's Rock Shrewsbury: Human League to headline next year's festival

The band, which had hits including Don't You Want Me?, Human and Fascination will be on stage in the Quarry for the concert which takes place on July 13.

Back for its third year, the event promises to be another sell-out, with more than 15 bands who had a string of hits in the 80s and early 90s performing.

Other acts to have confirmed for next year's show include Chesney Hawkes, Sister Sledge, Captain Sensible and Belinda Carlisle.

This year's concert attracted thousands of music fans who dressed in their best multicolour outfits to enjoy a day of day of top quality music in the heart of Shrewsbury.

Among the acts were Jason Donovan, Kim Wilde, UB40 and Go West.

The Quarry was a sea of florescent tutus, glasses, beads and headbands as people headed for the arena, set up on the grass close to the River Severn, to hear bands from their teenage years.

Tickets for next year's event went on sale earlier this month and promoters are confident the event will be a popular as in previous years.

A spokesman for the event said: “Let’s Rock Shrewsbury was added to the widely successful and incredibly popular series of retro festivals in 2017 and the second year did not disappoint, celebrating all things pop and 80s. What a day it was, with a sell-out crowd.”

“An amazing day was had by all and we cannot wait to be back for 2019.”

Let’s Rock festivals are held all over the country in the summer months and have been staged for the past 10 years. They are the biggest 80s festivals to be staged in the UK.

Let’s Rock Shrewsbury is aimed at the whole family, with entertainment for everyone. Children can enjoy complimentary activities within the Kids’ Kingdom area with an interactive circus, face painting, inflatables and more. Children aged 12 and under also have free entry.

For adults there will be multiple bars, plus of course the all-important posh luxury loos. Gates open at 10am with music from midday.
