TV Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick reschedules to come to Shrewsbury theatre in September
TV Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick is due to come to Shropshire later this year after his show was cancelled during the pandemic.
He had been due to appear at Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn last September, for a presentation planned by Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club.
At the time it was much to the disappointment of Shropshire's then High Sheriff Dean Harris – a "big fan" of the Supervet – as well as 260 other people who had bought tickets.
The event, however, has been rescheduled for Monday, September 13, at 7.30pm, with previously booked tickets still valid.
It comes as the 53-year-old TV vet recently revealed he has been fighting an 'exhausting' battle with Covid-19.
Julian Wells, from the Rotary club, who organised Noel's visit to Shropshire, said: “The details remain on the Theatre Severn website and all the previous information we published is current.
“We have been very fortunate to secure Noel’s visit to Shrewsbury and his agreement to change his schedule as a result of Covid at a time when keeping a veterinary practice going through a pandemic has been a huge challenge.”
He said Noel’s second book, ‘How Animals Saved My Life, was published in the autumn of 2020 and quickly reached the top of the best-seller charts.
Controversial
Julian, himself a veterinary consultant, said: “Hopefully, we will be arranging a signing session for anyone wishing to purchase a copy of this revealing story of Noel’s efforts to push forward the frontiers of veterinary orthopaedic practice.
“Noel is well known to the public as the Supervet on Channel 4.
"In the veterinary profession he is a controversial figure because he boldly raises issues around the ethics and morals of cutting edge veterinary surgical intervention and its role in the concept of ‘One Medicine'.
“As he explains in his book, this has sometimes found him in conflict with the profession’s regulator. However, his approach has also encouraged a generation of applicants to veterinary school.
“These are youngsters who have been inspired by his attitude, devotion to animal welfare, and compassion. Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club is very pleased to be able to welcome Noel to Shrewsbury.”
Former High Sheriff Dean Harris said: "I was very disappointed when the original date was postponed, so I'm thrilled to see the Noel Fitzpatrick will be visiting Shropshire this autumn.
“Theatre Severn, and the rest of the county's arts and entertainment venues, being able to reschedule shows and think about the future is a positive and welcome sign of life slowly returning back to some sort of normality.
