The organisers have been building excitement ahead of this weekend's extravaganza at Staffordshire's Weston Park.

One of the latest posts on the official @vfestival Twitter feed showed cranes in place constructing the main stage which will see the likes of rapper Jay Z and Pink perform. Although the immaculate looking green fields in front are not likely to be as peaceful come Saturday.

The Tweet, which was shared by more than 100 people, said: "The festival build is well underway! #VWeston."

The stage

V Festival will kick off Friday night with DJ sets from the likes of Chase and Status and Annie Mac on the Radio One Stage.

But the big hitters will be featuring from Saturday with American hip-hop star Jay Z headlining the main stage after performances from Stormzy, Ellie Golding and others.

On Sunday the same stage will be headed by Pink after the likes of Craig David and Madness.

There will also be a host of big names on the second stage including Dizzee Rascal and Rudimental while a dance arena and comedy tent will give festival goers plenty of variety over the weekend.

Tickets are still available with day passes costing £89 up to weekend camping tickets priced at £189.

The fast approaching event has also prompted the usual warnings for revellers with Public Health England advising people to ensure their immunisations are up to date.

Staffordshire Police has outlined its security plans for the event advising visitors they will be searched while uniformed and plain clothes officers will be heavily present.
