Volunteer performers star in Woyzeck as part of Birmingham International Dance Festival - in pictures
More than 100 people from across Birmingham have taken to the stage to be part of an innovative stage show this week.
Scores of local people will perform as part of the 2018 Birmingham International Dance Festival at the Repertory Theatre, which began on June 15 and runs until Saturday.
Volunteers will take part in a production of Woyzeck, a story that was written nearly two centuries ago about a young soldier and the impact of war on communities.
The play follows unlucky soldier Woyzeck who begins to hear voices and allows his doctor to run tests on him to earn extra money.
Creator of the show, Roxana Silbert, says that it has been one of the things she's 'had the most fun doing'.
"The cast features people of every age and every background, we’ve asked an enormous amount from them and they’ve really relished it," she said.
"I’m incredibly proud of them all and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with them; their energy and enthusiasm has been inspiring and transformative.”
