Birmingham's Drag Punk to host Halloween show
Birmingham drag quartet Drag Punk are set to host a special Halloween event at The Nightingale Club.
The show, cleverly named Drag! Me To Hell, marks the start of the group's more ambitious approach to drag nights and performance shows, featuring a full narrative, decoration, production value and special guests.
The members of Drag Punk - including Paul Aleksander, Lilith, Tacky - will perform at the show, as well as fellow Birmingham queens Tanja McKenzie, Eva Serration and Cosmic Crum. Fourth Drag Punk member Amber Cadaverous will be working behind the scenes for the night.
They will also be joined by London queen Ruby Wednesday for the show.
A statement released by Drag Punk ahead of the show said: The aim is to push people’s expectations of a contemporary drag show by introducing elements of theatre, and some very considered and planned performances, linked by a narrative.
"In this instance it will be led by our host for the night, Drag Punk’s Lilith, who as a psychic medium will interact with the audience and through the use of séance, Ouija board and tongue-in-cheek, summon spirits and develop the story.
"For us the importance of mixing horror, darkness with comic relief and surprise will be important to set a tone that is fresh, unrestricted and that fans of drag and Halloween will love.
"The night will be entirely positive and relaxed, with all photography and filming allowed, and one that fulfils our aim to provide safe spaces for LGBTQ to come, express themselves and meet new people.
The show is currently for those aged 18 and over, with the group aiming to change this to 16 and over, with an 18 and over after party.
Drag! Me To Hell will take place on October 12 at Birmingham's Nightingale Club.
Tickets cost £3 in advance and £5 on the door.
