Jasper Carrott, John Lodge and Carl Palmer to perform at Birmingham charity show

Birmingham Night of Stars Charity Show will see The Moody Blues' John Lodge and Emerson, Lake and Palmer's Carl Palmer perform at the city's Symphony Hall as part of the concert.

Proceeds will be going to Birmingham Children's Hospital Charities and Westside Charitable Endeavour, dedicated to recording the area’s historical attributes.

Birmingham singer/songwriter John Lodge will perform an hour-long set of favourite solo and classic Moody Blues songs including Isn’t Life Strange and Ride My Seesaw.

This show is part of Lodge’s solo UK 10,000 Light Years Tour, celebrating the rockers new live album.

The musician joined The Moody Blues 53 years ago following the departure of original bassist Clint Warwick, and went on to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year as a member of the group.

Carl Palmer 20-minute set will feature classic tracks including Nut Rocker and Fanfare For The Common Man.

The Handsworth musician is credited as one of the most respected rock drummers to emerge from the 1960s.

He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1989, and was awarded the Prog God accolade at the 2017 progressive Music Awards.

The evening will be compèred by 74-year-old Acocks Green comedian Jasper Carrott, OBE.

Speaking ahead of the event, Jasper said: “We love throwing the spotlight on people who were born and bred in this great city and then went on to become such big stars.

"The audience will enjoy various musical treats and I will also interview both John and Carl about their childhood, fame in the 1960s rock and roll scene, and what they’re up to now."

Birmingham Night of Stars Charity Show takes place at Birmingham Symphony Hall on April 11.
