Preparations are under way for Ludlow Dog Day on July 23 July at Stokesay Court and once more Tuffins supermarket in Craven Arms and Hobsons Brewery in Cleobury Mortimer are supporting the huge event.

Ludlow Dog Day is now in its fourth year and in 2016 raised more than £20,000 for charities selected by organisers Ludlow Rotary Club. Held at Stokesay Court, between Ludlow and Craven Arms, the family day sees thousands of visitors and their dogs descend on the area.

This year Hobsons Brewery is offering free entry tickets in a prize competition with their Old Prickly beer, and Tuffins, the largest independently owned supermarket in Shropshire, is showcasing the competition in their Craven Arms store.

Reuben Crouch of Hobsons Brewery said: “Hobsons is delighted to support Ludlow Rotary Club again in this charity raising effort.

"We know that all the money goes to really deserving causes, and we hope the prize competition will focus interest in the event and give three lucky groups free entry to what is a really good day out for adults, children, and of course dogs, while helping deserving members of the community."

Angus Kerr of Ludlow Rotary Club added: “The support of local businesses like Tuffins and Hobsons is really great because our set up costs are covered and all monies raised on the day can go to good causes.

"Major beneficiaries this year will be Alzheimer’s Society, Hope House Children’s Hospice, Forest Dog Rescue, and Canine Partners. Put a marker in your diary for July 23.”

The competition is available to all and can be entered online at www.hobsons-brewery.co.uk/LudlowDogDay.

Gates will open at 10am with competitions for all types of dog, ranging from the best rescue dog to the scruffiest mutt, with much in between. There will be a full programme of special events with dog display teams and demonstrations including flyball, dog agility, and dog obedience.
