Letter: Coalition is the best outcome
Letter: I think that the new coalition government is the best thing that has happened in British politics in my life time. Let's just hope that Dave and Nick have the guts to live up to our (my) expectations.

They talk of sweeping through the statute book and getting rid of unsuitable laws. Here are a few suggestions to start with:
Get rid of the law allowing parking on double yellow lines with a disabled badge. Reason. If my car causes an obstruction on a double yellow line, so does theirs.
Get rid of laws and by-laws preventing me from wearing a full face balaclava or hood in a public place or shopping centre. Reason; there is nothing in my religion that says I must not wear attire that prevents me from being identifiable. Just as there is nothing in the Muslim religion that says they must cover themselves from head to foot so that they are completely hidden. It is a matter of choice, just like my balaclava, but my full face balaclava is illegal in a public place. One country, one law for all.
Get rid of the Human Rights Act. It causes too many mad-cap decisions. Replace it with a common sense law.
Get rid of all laws to do with the Health and Safety Executive. They have done nothing for safety, but have crippled British industry and business with a plethora of silly rules and regulations that have priced us out of the world market.
Get rid of all laws allowing land owners to take the law into their own hands by using private contractors to clamp people's cars.
