Thousands of people turned back the clock in Shrewsbury's Quarry and danced to some of the biggest names from the 1980s charts.

Rick Astley, Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley and Go West were among the acts performing to nearly 7,000 people in a four-hour show last night, which began in bright sunshine and ended with a spectacular fireworks display.

Other names on the bill included ABC, Howard Jones and Mica Paris, who opened the concert at 7pm.

Alison Lowe, of promoters IML concerts, estimated that 6,750 tickets had been sold.
