Hundreds of revellers descended on a Shropshire farm for an annual three-day music festival, with organisers today praising the "absolutely brilliant" atmosphere.

People attending the 12th annual Farmer Phil's Festival at Near Gatten Farm in Ratlinghope, near Church Stretton, over the weekend got the chance to watch the famous Perseid meteor showers on Thursday night before enjoying three days of music.

And despite "swamp-like conditions" caused by torrential rain, tickets sold out on Saturday. Organisers have hailed the event as a huge success.

Acts which performed at the festival included Hazel O'Connor, Hawklords - ex original Hawkwind members - Pauline Black from The Selecter, The Amigos, The Skints and Bo Pilar and The Mountain Valley Boys.

As well as the main stage, there was also an acoustic stage, music workshops, a comedy tent and workshops and discussions on green issues running throughout the weekend.

A Sunday farmers' market with locally grown produce also took place and festival-goers were able to enjoy a number of alternative therapies in the healing area.

A festival spokesperson said: "We sold out of tickets on Saturday.

"It was a swamp but the atmosphere was just so good - it was absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately it has rained but that has not stopped us.

"It is definitely better than last year. We have got more people.

"Everybody is in the festival mood, the kids have enjoyed it, it has been great fun."
