Letter: About a month ago I wrote a letter to this paper about how it took embarrassing press coverage before the council repaired a pothole that had reached its seventh birthday, adding that this was symptomatic of the authority's apathy to repairing the street environment around the Regent Street neighbourhood.

After the Shropshire Star, the Sun and the Daily Mirror had written their disparaging articles, Telford & Wrekin not only filled in the pothole but also undertook dozens of other patching up jobs. This was admired by myself and the residents, and we all thought this was a satisfying end to the campaign.

But no, more, much more was to come. On my return from a camping holiday in Wales, I walked up Regent Street and beheld a truly beautiful sight. All the footpaths on both sides of Regent Street, Urban Gardens, Urban Way and Millfields have been resurfaced.

I take it all back Telford & Wrekin, you are caring and this work is appreciated.
