Letter: Shropshire Star readers who travel by train will be interested in the new Network Rail West Midlands and Chilterns RUS (Route Utilisation Strategy) which is to plan future developments and improvements in the rail services in our area for the next 15 years.

The draft document contains very few improvements in our area and reflects a lack of ambition to significantly improve rail services in Shropshire.

There is an acknowledgement of some overcrowding on a "few" Shrewsbury to Birmingham trains, but no plans for additional services or station improvements, only two additional coaches on three specific trains.

This is a consultative document and therefore it would be useful for Star readers to contribute regarding improvements needed for the long term development of our station and its rail services. The full document can be found at www.networkrail.co.uk

Go into RUS and then click on West Midlands and Chilterns consultative document. I do urge readers to respond to this consultation to get some much needed long term improvements planned for Shropshire rail services, especially the on-going overcrowding issue.
