Letter: My ideas for new Shrewsbury council offices
Letter: Has the council got any idea of the meaning of cutbacks? To suggest moving a beautiful greenhouse from the Quarry - one of our most idyllic spots - to build an office for 15 officers is farcical.

There is plenty of empty space in the Market Hall building (which, I believe the council owns ) to accommodate them; all that would be required would be a lick of paint and a bit of carpeting, probably about £300 to £500 max. OK, there's no parking there so they would have to park in Frankwell, but I'm sure they would be able to swing free parking.
If not there's always Park and Ride - sorry you'll have to pay if you're over 60 from April 1.
Alternatively, I see there are moves afoot to renovate the toilets in Butcher Row.
Why not pass a by-law making all licensed premises make their toilet facilities available to the public, then convert the old toilets into new council premises.
The gents could be used for the officers who have to put up with all this rubbish and the ladies could be converted into a council chamber. Sorry about the pun ladies.
This is a bit tongue in cheek, but for goodness' sake show a bit of common sense.
