Letter: Put our elderly before helping foreign nations
It is a complete and utter outrage that our Government sends millions of pounds of taxpayers' money in overseas aid, yet thousands of British elderly folk die of the cold each winter.
It is a complete and utter outrage that our Government sends millions of pounds of taxpayers' money in overseas aid, yet thousands of British elderly folk die of the cold each winter.
On top of that, a recent report has revealed that hundreds of our OAPs have died of thirst and malnutrition in NHS wards.
Why do we allow this to continue?
Let's not forget that most of these poor souls were of the 'War Generation' – the generation that has given so much and asked for so little in return.
So I say to this Government and all the usual blinkered Third World obsessives – it's time to put our poor elderly folk first.
