Letter: Questions on high-speed rail link

Would someone answer my questions about the speed of the high-speed rail link?

1. How will people who use it spend the time they have saved. A few extra drinks or productive work?

2. After completion, how many jobs will be lost by businesses being taken from one area to another?

3. How many MPs will have their houses or other property destroyed by the line?

4. How many areas of productive farmland will be lost forever?

I firmly believe that food shortages will occur if we do not plan ahead. I am not against progress. We have all benefited, but not everyone lives in London or Birmingham. What would Dr Beeching have to say?
