Letter: Scrap toy train plan and support our defences

When I had some service behind me in the Army, newer soldiers would sometimes ask my Army number to compare with theirs.
My stock reply would be, "Son, when I joined the Army we didn't have numbers. We all knew each other."
After recent announcement of even more defence cuts it seems my joking reply may soon become stark reality!
If David Cameron wants to save billions why doesn't he abandon his toy train – which is both unnecessary and unwanted – instead of our defences, which are both?
