A swimming pool in Telford which was closed after heating problems reopened today – and leisure chiefs said two others would be back in business next month.
The pool at Abraham Darby Leisure Centre in Madeley was closed yesterday after a heating failure, while the baths at Oakengates and Wellington are currently out of action because of emergency and planned repair work.
It meant only the council-run pools at Hadley Learning Community and Newport were open to swimmers yesterday.
But the Abraham Darby pool was back open today – and bosses said they were working hard to get the other two back open as soon as possible
The pool at Oakengates Leisure Centre is closed for emergency repairs after a leak was discovered last month.
The pool in Wellington is due to open next month after being shut for a year as for the town's regeneration.
Councillor Arnold England, cabinet member for leisure and wellbeing at Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "The pool at Oakengates Leisure Centre has unfortunately required urgent work, and we hope to have the pool reopened by next weekend. In addition, Wellington Leisure Centre will open mid-March.
"We would like to thank the public for bearing with us when planned pool closures and urgent pool closures have coincided and we look forward to being back to full strength shortly."
