Letter: Battery hens ban hits egg prices
The ban on battery cages for laying hens has caused the price of eggs to rise sharply, and caused job losses in this country.
The ban on battery cages for laying hens has caused the price of eggs to rise sharply, and caused job losses in this country.
Other countries ignore the ban and cram yet more hens into batteries in order to export egg products to the UK.
I see the council is to introduce a waste food collection, but it occurs to me that people would be better off buying more hens and poultry runs and then feed their scraps to the birds.
Then they would have a constant supply of fresh eggs from contented hens,.
But then this is illegal, under some stupid law. No, we have to buy eggs from abroad.
Bah! You cannot win, it seems.
