Letter: Well done to Wrekin walkers
Well done to the Wrekin Community First Responders who recently climbed the Wrekin.
Well done to the Wrekin Community First Responders who recently climbed the Wrekin.
Although to some a walk up the Wrekin might seem like an afternoon stroll, there is always the possibility of an accident.
Emergency vehicles must be able to get to the foot of the Wrekin quickly and efficiently.
Has the ambulance, police or fire service ever tried to gain access the foot of the Wrekin on a Bank Holiday or when there is an 'event' on the Wrekin?
If so, they will find it almost impossible to get through the rows of parked cars.
Most of the routes to the foot of the Wrekin will have cars parked on both sides of the road restricting the highway to a single carriage way with nowhere for vehicles to pass.
It would also help if motorists would always use the car parks provided and not park on the side of the road
Some form of enforceable traffic and parking control is urgently needed to keep the routes open to two-way traffic at all times.
A weekend and Bank Holiday park and ride system from Wellington might assist as would drivers parking sensibly.
