Letter: Driving as bad here as in Turkey
A few years ago we lived in Turkey, where we would take our lives in our hands just by driving to our local supermarket, a mere 10 minutes away from our home.

The driving standards were appalling! In fact, Turkey had one of the highest road deaths of any country in the world.
We returned to the UK to live and decided to make our home in Shropshire, eventually moving to Oswestry.
We love the area and are very happy here but we now find ourselves in the same situation as in Turkey.
Driving here is a nightmare! It seems as if cars in this area aren't fitted with indicators leaving one to guess in what direction drivers intend to go.
The orthopaedic hospital is ideally situated so near the A5 – ready for the idiots who drive up the middle of this road – despite diagonal lines prohibiting this – as they overtake.
Parking near T junctions is a 'must' as is anywhere that causes an obstruction.
Visitors all make comments about the atrocious driving standards are.
