Huge rush to see X Factor's Jahmene Douglas at Shrewsbury Buttermarket

Hundreds of tickets have been sold for X Factor runner-up Jahmene Douglas's exclusive Shropshire gig, club bosses confirmed today.

The 21-year-old, who polled 38.9 per cent of the votes in the final with James Arthur, will perform a special one-off show on December 30 at The Buttermarket in Howard Street.

Tickets went on sale at 10am on Sunday and 150 tickets were sold in the first five minutes with all 400 earlybird tickets now sold out.

Jahmene is the latest X Factor contestant to spark a surge for tickets in Shropshire after Rylan Clark, Ella Henderson, Union J and winner James Arthur all confirmed separate concerts at the venue over the festive period.

Meanwhile, The Buttermarket has also announced a new show for Ella on January 5, at 8pm.

The female vocalist, who Louis Walsh described as the next Leona Lewis, was tipped to win the show but went out controversially.

Buttermarket owner Martin Monahan said: "We're delighted that Jahmene will be joining the line-up of these exclusive one-off X Factor gigs in Shropshire, especially as this particular performance, along with the new gig for Ella Henderson, are both going to have no age restriction on any ticket so it will be a great evening out for all the family."

Mr Monahan said he was also in discussions to try to get James Arthur to play at the club on a second date, after his one-off show sold out in less than five hours last week.
