Letter: When did Britain become so selfish?
When did Britain become such a selfish nation?
I remember a time when we would all have looked out for each other and now I wonder what the future will bring for our children and grandchildren.
I was at Telford Town Centre and I bought a pair of men's small jogging bottoms. I remember the assistant asking me if I wanted the coathanger and as I said no thank you, she left them for me to pack in my bag.
Alas, when I arrived home, the jogging bottoms were nowhere to be seen. I rang Asda customer service desk and nothing was handed in but it was picked up on camera that I had left them on the counter but not who had picked them up.
Oh well my own fault I suppose £8 wasted. Good luck to whoever picked them up, I hope they keep you warmer than me.
As a pure coincidence my friend did something similar in Tesco in Madeley. She treated herself to a Alfie Boe CD. She paid for the CD but forgot to put it in her bag, only realising her mistake when she got home. We rang Tesco, well surprise, it had not been handed in.
Oh well! We are only OAPs. She is 89 years old, and I am 67 and it's okay we aren't that important to lots of people so our feelings don't really matter.
Also, on returning from Telford on the no 44 bus, I saw two young ladies with pushchairs take up space on the bus while leaving a young disabled lady waiting in the cold because there was no room for her.
As these buses run every 10 minutes surely they could have waited and let the wheelchair go first, but oh no.
I rest my case.
