The Mysterious Girl singer's website is advertising a one night only gig on September 27 at the Telford International Centre.

But this has come as news to bosses of the venue, who say although they have been in talks with Andre's management, no official booking has been made.

The confusion has upset fans, who have been calling the TIC for tickets to be told no concert exists.

Tom Gray, chief executive of Southwater Event Group, said: "We have never had an official booking for a Peter Andre concert to be held at Telford International Centre. We have been in discussions with a promoter who has made inquiries, but nothing has been confirmed."

But representatives of the singer today insisted the event is still a realistic possibility. Concert promoter Leigh Elliot, from Telford, said: "Tickets were due to go on sale two weeks ago, there has been a lot of messing about but I hope this will be confirmed and he can perform to a sell-out crowd in Telford."

Gary Howard, the singer's agent, said: "The gig is very much on."

Meanwhile, Councillor Shaun Davies today joined a campaign to get the singer to Telford.

He said: "If Peter Andre wants to perform in Telford we should make it happen. We have great venues in our borough to put an event like this on."

Telford fans tweeted their excitement about the possibility of a gig. Fan Amy Marie Bailey said: "So he might be performing after all? yippee! Front row tickets here I come!!!!"
