Ryan Blackham, 10, from Madeley, has entered the pre-teen category of the TeenStar competition, whose previous winners include X Factor finalist Luke Friend. Ryan's Mum, Margaret, said: "He's really well known locally, he absolutely loves singing and sings everywhere he goes."

TeenStar is a national competition specifically for teen and pre-teen singers, duos, vocal groups, and rappers.

The regional final will be judged by music industry experts including DJs, record label representatives and celebrity judges. Should Ryan be successful he will perform in the Teenstar Grand Final which, this year, is taking place at The O2 Arena in London.

Three years ago he appeared in Britain's Got Personality at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. The performance can still be viewed on YouTube.

The young performer is also a budding actor and has recently appeared on Jedward's Big Adventure on CBBC with Telford Stage School.

Ryan, who attends Madeley Primary School, lives with his mum Margaret and dad, Keith, on Station Road.

He has an older brother and sister, Charlie, 20, and Gemma, 22, who are throwing their support behind their younger sibling.

The regional final takes place on March 30 at Birmingham NEC.
