Letter: Disgusted at stock of horrific party gear

This is an open letter to Tesco. With regard to certain merchandise you are stocking in your stores – namely the severed arms and feet.

I wish to lodge a complaint of the highest degree. Never in my life have I seen such disgusting and horrific merchandise in any supermarket.

I thought blood-stained daggers were barbaric enough, given all the stabbings that take place in this country. But this is extreme bad taste and they are so realistic. Actually, I think it is an insult to humanity that you think this kind of merchandise would appeal.

Also, this is the centenary year of the First World War when many young men were blown apart for our liberty. If this is the result of liberty one wonders why they bothered.

Personally, I think you have brought great shame on your stores. Also the recent beheadings and so many dying in Syria, and the little girl in Machynlleth who was butchered last year.

Taking all this into account, this kind of merchandise shows a complete disregard for any human dignity and respect, and even most of your store employees find them awful.

I note the label it says these "hideous objects" are not toys suitable for children and should be kept out of reach of children. Yet you have the audacity to display them on the bottom shelves where children can see, touch and be impacted by them.

I have written to David Cameron. I will also send a copy of this letter to our local MP, Daniel Kawczynski.
