Letter: Party vows fight to preserve the NHS

The Green Party is totally supportive of the NHS and the vision of its founders in setting up high quality, accessible and non-discriminatory health care.

The latest World Health Organisation's statistics puts USA health care expenditure per head of population at almost twice that of the UK, which has higher life expectancy.

This says a great deal for the professionalism of our doctors, nurses and care workers and their committed public service.

We do not accept the cuts currently being imposed on the NHS by Conservative and LibDem politicians. As significant parts of clinical health care move from public control to private hands employment terms and conditions are at risk.Stressed and under-valued doctors, nurses and carers risk poorer health outcomes. The lengthening of ambulance response times will be dangerous for the rural population.

The Green Party will not accept the relocation of health care facilities away from Shropshire. We are holding national politicians and local agents to account to make sure that the health of Shropshire's residents is protected.

At the beginning of January I wrote to senior executive of NHS England and to Secretary of State Jeremy Hunt and to Dr Caron Morton and David Evans of Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups asking them to take on board these concerns and specifically to intervene to shorten ambulance times.

My complaint is now being looked at.
