West Mercia Police said a number of premises were targeted over the weekend.

The force said The Sitwell Arms in Bucknell, near Knighton, on the Powys/Shropshire border, was broken into via its rear doors between 3am and 10am on Sunday.

Cash was taken, along with a Cath Kidston bag and an iPhone 6.

Over the same night Peter Coombes Butchers in Clun was targeted, but it is not believed that anything was stolen.

The alarm at the White Horse in Clun was triggered at 5am on Sunday, but officers said nothing appeared to have been disturbed and there were no signs of forced entry.

The police have urged all pubs and businesses to tighten up on any lack security and not to leave any cash overnight in tills.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the break-ins should call police on 101.
