Missing: Billy the dog flees 15 miles from Oswestry home after getting spooked by fireworks
A distraught dog owner from Oswestry is offering a £200 reward for the safe return of his canine companion, Billy the Jack Russell, who walked at least 15 miles in just 24 hours after being scared by fireworks at the weekend.
Ross Kayley, has been sleeping overnight in his van in a desperate effort to bring his faithful little four-legged friend - who has been spotted numerous times in the Whitchurch area - home again.
He said: "Billy has been on a hell of a journey, when he escaped on Saturday he was in the Cockshutt area and he was last spotted in Whitchurch.
"I've plotted the path he has been on - he has been spotted all the way by members of the public - and he has been zig-zagging from Cockshutt to Tilstock - about 15 miles.
"I've been overwhelmed by the support we have had from people searching for him and spreading awareness but we need you - The Shropshire Star - to help us bring him home.
"I take Billy everywhere with me.
"He's four-years-old and I've had him from a pup and this is really bad.
"I covered my van in clothes to try to make a scent track that he could follow to woo him.
"One woman said he called at her place one night and she fed him and let him sleep there but he was gone when she checked on him in the morning and she couldn't find him.
"If anyone comes across him please ring me as soon as possible on 07892359308 any time day or night and don't run after him or shout at him, just speak to him at ground level."
Helen Edge said: "Billy escaped from my friend who was looking after him.
"His home is Oswestry.
"Billy was last seen in Tilstock Lane near The Raven, Prees Heath, Whitchurch.
"Billy is trained to respond to the sound of an air horn so if you hear one it will be Ross on his quest to bring Billy home.
"We really need to get Billy home and any help is much appreciated."
