Taxi driver arrested on Mauritius after Shropshire couple killed in crash
A taxi driver has been arrested in Mauritius after a crash which killed a Shropshire couple on holiday on the island.
Hugh Vaughan and his wife Liz, who lived in Prees Heath, near Whitchurch, were killed in the collision on Monday.
The taxi driver, who is 44 years old and lives in Pamplemousses in Mauritius, has been released on 'parole' according to the Mauritian media.
In a moving tribute on her Facebook page, daughter Abi Vaughan has posted: "Whilst on holiday in Mauritius, my Dad and his wife Liz were involved in a car accident which unfortunately took both of their lives.
"I can't even begin to express how devastated my family and I are right now. I am hurting so badly and my heart is in little pieces on the floor.
"He was my inspiration growing up and the reason I'm going to do my course in uni. I can't believe he's gone - it hasn't sunk in and I don't think it will for quite some time yet.
"I really hope I can make you proud daddy, love you and miss you more than you'll ever know. Rest in peace."

Mr Vaughan was the UK director of Landia, which supplies machinery to farmers across the UK from its base in Whitchurch.
In a statement the company said he would be “sorely missed” by friends and colleagues.
He was also a member of Hawkstone Park Golf Club near Wem.
Club captain Ashley Burdock said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with their immediate family at this sad time."
More tributes have been coming in via social media.
Commenting on the Shropshire Star's Facebook page, Louise Smith posted: "Sending all our love at this very sad time."
Don Marsden wrote: "Condolences to family, friends & colleagues alike, desperately sad."
And Michael Tipper posted: "So sorry! Condolences to the family for this tragic accident."
The Foreign Office said it is supporting their family and remains in contact with the Mauritian police.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are supporting the family of two British people who have died in Mauritius.
"We remain in contact with the Mauritian police.”
