Drayton Manor death: Theme park victim Evha Jannath died from chest injuries

The schoolgirl who died after falling from a water ride at Drayton manor theme park died of chest injuries, Staffordshire Police have said.

Evha Jannath, aged 11, from Leicester, died after falling from the Splash Canyon ride on May 9 at the family-run park in Staffordshire during a school trip.

She was rushed to hospital but later died in hospital.

The force said the preliminary cause of death has been identified by the HM Coroner as chest injuries but investigations continue.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned this afternoon, with no confirmed date for the full hearing.

The investigation into Evha’s death remains a joint investigation between Staffordshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive.
