Despite being moved on from Harlescott Park and Ride on Wednesday, they quickly established a temporary camp on Meole Brace Park and Ride on the other side of town.

It is believed there has been an influx of travellers to Shrewsbury ahead of a traveller’s wedding due to take place in the area this weekend.

The group has been visited by Shropshire Council’s gipsy liaison officer along with the police and have been served with legal notices to leave the site.

John Taylor, Shropshire Council’s senior gipsy and travellers officer, said: “The group that were at Harlescott vacated the site on Wednesday night and are now pitched at Meole Brace Park and Ride site.

“The traveller liaison team and police have jointly visited and served them with notice to vacate the site, which expired at 4pm yesterday.”
