Firefighters free casualty after early-hours A41 crash

A person was trapped in a vehicle after a car and a lorry collided in the early hours this morning.

The crash happened at the junction of the A41 and the B5341, at Weston Heath between Newport and the M54, at 4.48am.

Two fire engines, one from Newport and the other from Telford, went to the scene. An operations officers also attended.

One person was cut free from one of the vehicles by firefighters using Holmatro cutting equipment.

The individual was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. Their condition is unknown.

Two-car crash blocks A5

On Friday traffic was delayed on the A5 near Shrewsbury when two cars collided during rush hour.

Fire engines from Baschurch, Shrewsbury and Wellington were sent to the A5 near Nesscliffe at 6.11pm after reports of a collision involving two saloon cars.

On arrival, they saw that the drivers and passengers had been able to get out of the vehicles.

The firefighters made the scene safe before leaving shortly after 6.30pm.
