The county is set to be battered by bad weather starting from 9pm tonight, with some areas continuing to be hit until Wednesday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for all of the West Midlands, and has said that there is a high chance of heavy rain at times as well.

Earlier this week forecasters warned that the winds – part of Storm Helene – could pose a risk to life.

Today the warning was downgraded, but people were still warned to be careful.

"There is not a danger to life, but we are just saying be prepared for it be very windy for a while," a spokesman for the Met Office said.

"Helene is still over the Atlantic but it's weakening and we're a lot more confident of what's going to happen.

"The centre of the storm will go up through the middle of Ireland and most of the strong winds will be in the Irish sea and to the west of Scotland."

A yellow warning advises people to watch ou for damage to trees, delays to road, rail and air transport and some issues for high-sided vehicles, especially on exposed routes and bridges.

There may also be some short term loss of power or other services.
