West Midlands Railway said rail replacement services have been ordered after a points failure between Telford Central and Shrewsbury station.

A points failure occurs when a movable section of the track, called points, stops working properly and is unable to route trains to their destination.

The incident in the Wellington area was first reported at around 8.40am on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Railway said: "Due to a points failure between Shrewsbury and Telford Central the line towards Birmingham is blocked.
