A Llandrindod Wells sex offender who was jailed for more than six and a half years is going back to the crown court after breaching an order.
Luke Bowen admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order on January 11 2023 after owning or possessing a mobile phone with internet access which he was prohibited from doing
The order was made by Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on January 19 2018.
The 34 year-old of Llanrthwl also admitted failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders register, when he appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He did so by staying at an address which was not his home address for more than seven days between May 14 2022 and December 25 2022, and he did not notify the police.
The court heard Bowen was sentenced in 2018 for three matters and served six and a half years for those offences and was released in May 2021.
Prosecuting, James Ashton said; “The defendant was convicted in crown court in January 2018 and he was jailed for six and a half years. He was made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
“He was released in May 2021 but was recalled on licence and that licence is due to expire on November 7.”
Mr Ashton said Bowen was arrested on January 11 and he handed over three mobile phone – two which were known to the police and one was not.
The phone had access to Whatsapp and there was also evidence on the phone that Bowen had stayed at his partner’s address for more than seven nights without telling the police. She also made reference to him deleting his internet history.
Magistrates agreed to send the case to Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on December 3. Pre-sentence reports were ordered and with Bowen set for release just after the hearing the magistrates gave him unconditional bail until that date.
