Atlas Tower Group has submitted plans for a 24/7 telecommunications cell site to be place on land at Frodesley Hall Farm in Frodesley, near Dorrington.

The proposal has received the backing of both Shropshire Council and Acton Burnell, Frodesley, Pitchford, Ruckley & Langley Parish Council.

“I believe that the installation of this mast and equipment will improve the mobile phone service in what is currently a poorly served area and will bring significant benefits to both residents and businesses in and around Acton Burnell and Frodesley,” said Ben Walker, senior programme officer (digital infrastructure) at Shropshire Council.

“Mobile phone coverage in Acton Burnell and Frodesley is currently provided by transmitter sites over three kilometres away. Atlas Tower Group are proposing a new site that is closer to both villages and therefore able to provide better indoor and outdoor mobile phone coverage.

“The new mast will greatly enhance mobile phone coverage and reliability, meaning improved public safety, and better access to emergency services and faster response times. Furthermore, enhanced connectivity can support advanced safety features in modern vehicles and smart homedevices, contributing to the overall safety and wellbeing of Shropshire residents.

“Having met with Atlas Tower Group, I’m aware that a number of locations were considered and the least favourable sites discounted. The preferred site maximises the mobile phone coverage while minimising the negative impacts of the new mast.”

Anna Morris, clerk and responsible finance officer at the parish council, added: “The council was unanimous in its support for measures which will improve the mobile phone signal in the parish and wishes to formally confirm its support for the erection of a new phone mast within the parish.

“The council considers Atlas Tower Group’s proposed first choice of location for the mast at Frodesley Hall Farm to be a suitable location for this mast and has no objection to this location.”
