As we approach the end of the year, I am excited to be preparing to launch the Police and Crime Plan, shaped by invaluable feedback from our recent consultation process.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the Police and Crime Plan survey—your input has been instrumental in shaping the priorities of this plan.

We are now finalising the design, printing, and accessible versions to ensure that the plan meets the needs of everyone in our communities.

The consultation highlighted key concerns, such as police visibility and strengthening relationships between police and community representatives.

I have shared this feedback with the Chief Constable, and we are already taking steps to address these issues.

The recent launch of a new Neighbourhood Policing Prevention Strategy, with its new focus on prevention, for example, will see Neighbourhood Policing and Prevention

Teams (NPPTs) holding monthly public meetings and community surgeries to encourage engagement and address local concerns more effectively.

I am also inviting people to join our volunteer schemes to support the work of my Office, and who will be crucial in supporting me to deliver on specific elements of the new Police

and Crime Plan.

Our Independent Custody Visitors make unannounced visits to custody facilities to check on detainee welfare, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Youth Ambassadors represent the voices of young people, advising on matters that directly impact them and shaping the services that will benefit their future.

Our Quality Assurance Panel reviews cases and processes, providing valuable feedback on standards and practices. Additionally, Animal Welfare Visitors check on the welfare of

police dogs, ensuring they are treated with care and respect.

Each volunteer plays a vital role in upholding community trust and building relationships that enhance local safety.

I look forward to launching the Plan in the new year, and with the support of our dedicated volunteers and engaged communities, I am committed to making a real difference.

Together, we can create safer, stronger communities for everyone.
