Fire crews called out to same Shrewsbury road twice in just over an hour - police also involved

Firefighters were scrambled to the same road in Shrewsbury twice in the space of little over one hour on Friday night.

The second incident in Upton Lane saw the police also being sent to the area.

The first call out to Upton Lane was at 9.20pm when a crew from the town put out a fire in a wheelie bin which they put out with one hose reel jet.

One minute over the hour later at 10.22pm a crew from Shrewsbury and the police were sent to Upton Lane where there was a report of a fire in the open.

A spokesperson for the fire service said there was a small fire in the recreation ground, and crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish.

They sent their incident stop message at 10.40pm.

There is no further information on whether the incidents are believed to be linked.
