Builth Wells councillor given a six month leave of absence

A Builth Wells town councillor has requested a six month absence to deal with family issues.

Councillor Gary Goodwin asked for the time away from the council at a meeting last week.

The council considered his request and approved his time off.

Meanwhile, Builth Wells Mayor Councillor Gwyn Davies said the council had been busy with some other work in the town

He said unfortunately they have had to fell some trees on the Groe due to Ash Dieback and they have also carried out some annual pruning. 

“We have also planted 14 new trees in this area to help make up for the loss. We have planted a variety of apple trees and oaks.”

The town council thanked Cllr Davies, Isaac Coe and Andrew Mills Tree Surgeon for their support and help.

Councillor Davies said some metal gates put in place to protect young trees on the Groe now need to be removed as the trees are growing into the metal. Members agreed to remove the metal gates. The council has also recently cleaned the gutters at the public toilets and cleaned moss from the war memorial.
