Major road closed after serious collision involving cattle truck in Oswestry
A major road has been closed after a serious crash involving two vehicles - one a cattle truck.
West Mercia Police said the A5 was shut from the Mile End Roundabout on the outskirts of Oswestry towards Shrewsbury as a result of the incident.
The crash, which involved a cattle truck and another vehicle according to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, happened shortly before 5pm.
Posting on social media West Mercia Police have said the road is expected to be closed for "some time", with emergency services at the scene.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, which sent four crews to the scene, said they had been called to reports of a crash involving two vehicles, in which a cattle truck had 'overturned'.
It added that there were 'believed to be two casualties'.
West Mercia Police has asked drivers to "avoid the area" and seek alternative routes while the road is closed.
A post from the force said: "Officers are currently responding to a serious collision on the A5 in Oswestry.
"Due to the collision the road is closed from the Mile End roundabout heading towards Shrewsbury, and is expected to be closed for some time.
"People are advised to seek alternative routes whilst emergency services are at the scene. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
