The alert was issued on Monday afternoon and warns of the flooding of farmland from Monday night on low-lying land.

“A flood alert is in force for the Tern and Perry catchments, and flooding is possible for the rivers Tern, Perry, Roden, Strine and Meese and their tributaries,” says the alert.

“River levels are forecast to rise as a result of heavy rainfall.

“Flooding of roads and farmland is possible from tonight on low-lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Wolverley to Newport. Market Drayton, Wem and Rodington may also be affected.

”Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.”
