Crash in Market Drayton causes delays - driver taken to hospital after 'medical episode' behind the wheel

A woman has been taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further checks after the incident on Newtown in Market Drayton that caused a road blockage and heavy traffic.
The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 8.51am reporting the crash.
Two fire crews, including the rescue tender, were sent from Hodnet, Newport and Wellington fire stations to the scene.
SRFS said the incident involved one vehicle. One occupant was assisted from the vehicle and left in the care of the ambulance service.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an RTC on Newtown, Drayton Bridge, Market Drayton at 8.35am this morning.
"One ambulance attended the scene and treated the driver of a car, a woman, who had reportedly suffered a medical episode. She was conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further checks."
The AA's Traffic News website also reported disruption in the area.
It said: "Road blocked and heavy traffic due to crash on Newtown both ways between A529 Phoenix Bank and Dog Kennel Lane."
Fire crews did not use any equipment at the scene.
The incident concluded at 9.18am.
