A41 near Prees shut in both directions after crash that left man trapped
A busy A-road in north Shropshire was closed in both directions following a crash on Thursday.
The A41 was closed in both directions following a crash that involved a van that had left the road and ended up on its side at Sandford, near Prees.
The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting the collision, which occurred at the B5065 (Prees) turn-off, at 12.09pm on Thursday.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed a man had been cut from the van, but was uninjured.
They said: "Emergency services are currently at the scene of a single-vehicle collision on the A41 close to the junction with the B5065 near Sandford.
"The collision was reported at around 12.15pm and involved a van. A man was cut from the vehicle but was uninjured. The road remains closed whilst the van is recovered."
The West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that the driver did not require hospital treatment.
A spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an RTC at the junction of the A41 and B5065 near Sandford just after 12pm.
"An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a van had come off the road and ended up on its side.
"The driver, a man, was assessed by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment and so was given self-care advice and discharged at the scene."
At around 1pm, a spokesperson for Market Drayton Fire Station said the road was closed in both directions and urged motorists to avoid the area.
They said: "The A41 is currently closed in both directions between Tern Hill and Whitchurch, due to a road traffic collision which has occurred at Sandford bends.
"All the emergency services are at the scene. Please avoid the area if at all possible."
