Casualties taken to hospital after two vehicles crash and one hits building in Shrewsbury

One vehicle collided with a building and casualties were reported in a two-vehicle crash in Shrewsbury.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service, West Mercia Police and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were scrambled to Holyhead Road at 8.07pm on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Holyhead Road and Isle Lane near Bicton, Shrewsbury just before 8pm. 

"Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found two cars had been involved in a collision. A man and a woman were both treated for injuries not believed to be serious and conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Police were called to a collision at the junction of Isle Lane and Holyhead Road  (B4380) at around 8pm last night, involving two cars. One person was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening or life changing. Another person sustained minor injuries. The road was blocked but later cleared."

There was little sign of damage to a building at the scene.

A spokesperson for the fire service said crews were called out to make the vehicles safe.

“There was a two-vehicle road traffic collision with one of the vehicles colliding with a building,” said the spokesperson.

“Crews assisted ambulance personnel and closed the road. Casualties in care of ambulance crews and police attended to continue with traffic management.”
