A new children's book, penned by Shrewsbury author Tracey J Morgan and illustrated by viral 'rubbish pet portrait' artist Hercule van Wolfwinkle about the adventures of Cinnamon the Capybara is about to go on sale.

Cinnamon went missing from her enclosure at Telford's Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World on Friday, September 13.

Her disappearance sparked a series of searches as people across the globe tuned in to find out the latest in the efforts to locate her.

Zoo owner Will Dorrell made headlines around the world when he reassured the public that the rogue rodent was in no danger, and likely "living her best life" in the wet woodlands around the zoo.

Following extensive searches day and night, a team of over a dozen experts assembled by the zoo managed to capture her one week later on September 20.

Cinnamon was soon returned safe and sound to an enclosure with her twin brother, Churro, and was even showered with treats for her belated first birthday in early October.

Now, a book documenting the chaotic creature's adventure is about to go on sale.

Will said: "Once we had successfully reunited Cinnamon with her family following her escape, we had lots of people getting in touch with us to ask us if we were going to write a book about her adventure.

"Hercule originally posted a drawing of Cinnamon on his social media page and it instantly gained thousands of likes and shares. When we found out that he was interested in bringing Cinnamon’s story to life, we were naturally delighted.

"Tracey is an amazing author, her unique style has really brought Cinnamon’s story to life and I know that readers both young and old will enjoy reading Cinnamon’s Big Adventure.”

The book is set for release on Monday, December 16, and is available to pre-order online at hoo-zoo.com.
